VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Magazine Sales – This is a tuition assistance program.  Mrs. Monahan and Kenzie Brooks will be chairing this, but helpers are often needed on days of prize give-a-ways. This project is conducted in September.

Entertainment Fundraiser – John Coleman chairs this program, and Kristin Baker is the assistant chairperson with the help of a wonderful committee always willing to accept additional volunteers.  Each year, in November, we contract some form of entertainment to provide for the extended community a “night out”.  Proceeds are used for local tuition assistance.

$2,500 Calendar Ticket – This ticket will be conducted four times a year.  Workers are needed to separate and organize distribution of tickets and keep track of sales.

CAGE programConn-Area Gift Exchange is our gift card program.  Most of our many contributors provide to you a four percent tuition credit on every dollar you spend including gas and groceries.  Chaired by Sharon Tlumack, she has a wonderful committee and will never turn down interested helpers.  The job involves counting with a small group of people as little as once a month, depending on how many volunteers sign up.

Marathon Day – Always a big event in May, this is a fun one.  We need many volunteers for this day, from medical assistance to ticket punchers.  Join us.

Performance Arts – This is an Ashley Runyan production that needs much involvement.   Even if you are not the artsy type, we need assistance with PR and many various tasks, including costumes, concessions, and technical support.

Book Fair – Held in March, parents can assist with set up, tear down, and sales all week long.  If you can give some time to that week it would be greatly appreciated.

Lunchtime Servers – We need extra hands to help with the distribution of foods and to assist the younger ones in “opening” their lunches.  Time needed would be from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Lunchtime Recess – Extra eyes on the playground is always a good thing.  You need not commit to every day.  One day a week would be a great help.  Time needed would be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Grant Writing – There is much out there in corporate and foundation grants, and we hope to obtain whatever we can for the good of the school.  If this is your talent, please let us know.

PR Committee – The committee is small at this time but has done much to promote the school.  We need great ideas to get the word out there of our wonderful school.  This committee meets about once a month, in the evenings.

Family Picnic – This is held in May, on the St. Aloysius Parish grounds.  It is an evening of food, games, and fun for the whole family.  There is always room for anyone interested in getting involved.

Golf Committee – Our golf committee is the best on the planet, through the guidance of Jeff Hutchinson.  This event is held in the beginning of June and proves to be a great time as well as a great success. If you can assist in acquiring donations, sponsors, or golfers you are very welcomed to join in.

Muscle Power – There have been occasions when we are in need of a group of men to help with heavy moving of a piece of equipment or such.  It does not happen often but it would be great to have an established group to call on in the event that the need arises.

Office Volunteer – The office staff is in need of helpers to do odd jobs such as stuffing family envelopes, applying labels, and answering the phone.  This can be a regular scheduled duty or an “as needed” duty.

Homeroom Parents – Each year our students are provided with three parties; Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day.  We are in need of parents willing to organize the refreshments and events of those parties.

News Articles – If your talent is writing, we would love to have news articles sent to the papers, on a regular basis, to let the world know what is going on at Conn-Area Catholic.  This is a great way to get involved in something that can be done from home.

EITC – As you know the state allows businesses to allocate their taxes to the school of their choice.  There are many businesses out there who would love to see their tax dollars go to Conn-Area Catholic rather than feed them to the government.  We need someone out there getting this information to these businesses.  If this is your forte, we would love to hear from you.

Cell Phones/Ink Cartridges – We appreciate all the used cell phones and ink cartridges that many of you have donated to the school.  Periodically, we need a volunteer to box these up for shipping.

Conn-Area Catholic School’s 100th Birthday Bash – Although the birthday isn’t until 2011, we would like to get started on some ideas for this great celebration.  If you would like to be on this planning committee, please let us know.
