School-Approved Apps

The Diocese of Greensburg requires software requests to be reviewed and approved before purchase or use in the classroom.  The Diocese strives to meet federal law requirements to protect your student’s data privacy. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects personally identifiable information (PII) from students’ education records from unauthorized disclosure.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a federal law that places parents in control over what information is collected from their young children online. It imposes rules for websites and online resources to protect children under age 13 while accounting for the dynamic nature of the Internet.

Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)   is a federal law that requires libraries and school districts to put safety measures in place for student protection while they use the internet.  It requires monitoring of online activity as well as educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including cyber-bullying awareness and response.
